Happy human rights day!!!!.

Happy human rights day!!!! Shout out to everyone out there standing up for the rights of people around the world. Celebrated annually every year on the 10th of December, the date was chosen in honor of the United Nations general assembly’s adoption of the universal declaration of human rights (UDHR). As we all know, the universal declaration of human rights (UDHR), was the first global proclamation of human rights, brought into place by the United Nations on the 10th of December 1948.

The theme of this years human rights day is: Recover better – stand up for human rights. I believe that the human rights day, doesn’t just celebrate the rights of people and those fighting for it, i believe that it also pays homage to all of those who fought and lost their lives in the struggle for universal rights and freedom. Which means today, we pay tribute to those who fought and are still fighting for human rights. Today, I’ll be paying tribute to the likes of Nelson Mandela, Fumilayo Ransome Kuti, Eleanor Roosevelt, Martin Luther King Jr, Abraham Lincoln, John Lewis, and the brave women and men in the past, who stood up for human rights. I’ll also be acknowledging and paying respect to the likes of Aisha Yesufu, Malala Yousafzai, Chimamanda Ngozi, and all the men and women in the world today, fighting for human rights.

As I’ve said before in previous posts, no one should ever be denied their fundamental human rights. They are essential for our survival and therefore should not be taken away from us. And it’s our responsibility to stand up for not only our own rights, but also for the rights of others as well. Happy human rights day everyone. Stay safeπŸ’–.

We must celebrate this day as the UDHR proclaims the inalienable rights to all human beings regardless of race, colour, religion, sex, language etc. Let’s apply HR standards to tackle any entrenched inequality, exclusion or discrimination. Happy Human Rights Day!!
