International Day For The Elimination Of Violence Against Women.

Violence against women isn’t something that is new to us in this present day. An action that affects an estimated one in three women, this form of injustice has gone on for years. Today the 25th of November, marks the annual observation of the International day for the elimination of violence against women. This day helps to raise the awareness of the fact that women globally are subject to domestic violence, sexual violence and other forms of violence.

Having a theme of “Orange the world: End violence against women now!! this day also marks the 16 days of activism against gender based violence; a global campaign to confront the issue of violence against girls and women which runs from the 25th of november to the 10th of December, human rights day. A day chosen by the united nations general assembly, this day helps to remind people about the need to respond to violence against women. It is a major human right priority that is beneficial to everyone.

A society where there is inequality amongst genders cannot progress. Violence against women isn’t only a case of injustice, it is also a total lack of respect towards the female gender. No female should be subjected to any form of violence, be it sexual or domestic. An example of sexual violence is rape, which I’ve talked on before. Check out my site to view the posts I’ve written on it. I haven’t had the chance to explore domestic violence and I hope to do so one day. In our own little way, we can help to spread the awareness about this forms of violence. A little show of effort can go a long way to support this cause. Stay safe everyone💫💫.
